About 

I am a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at İzmir University of Economics. I also serve as the Founding Director of EKOAYRA, the university’s Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Application and Research Center.

My work focuses on understanding the condition of structures and infrastructure, improving earthquake resilience, and reducing disaster risk. My areas of expertise include structural health monitoring, non-destructive testing (NDT), ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and digital technologies for infrastructure assessment.

With more than twenty years of academic, research, and industry experience in Türkiye and the United Kingdom, I bring together engineering research and practical applications. My previous roles include Vice Dean and Associate Professor at Yaşar University, Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich, and Project Engineer at Black & Veatch.

Through my teaching, research, and leadership at EKOAYRA, I work to strengthen collaboration between universities, public institutions, and industry to help build safer and more resilient communities.
